'Golden Fig', Unframed Photographic Print of Ephemeral Art

from $75.00

Fig Tree and Leaves

Created in Carramar Park in the Gladstone Region, Central Queensland, Australia

Photograph from the exhibition 'Lost and Found' by Jen Hollstein, The Art Gallery at Gladstone Hospital, Cosmos Arts for Health Inc., 2024

'Lost and Found' is a photography collection of ephemeral artworks created across the Gladstone Region, using natural and waste materials encountered on location.

The transient nature of each design celebrates the freedom that comes with natural change, and encourages an intuitive way of making art. As one passerby commented as I was making the stingray, ‘Ah! You’re playing! That kinda stuff is good for the soul, isn’t it?’

The hands-on approach serves to transmit to the viewer a sense of the therapeutic value of making tactile and mindful contact with the Earth, while also inspiring a newfound appreciation for the beauty in simplicity.

The almost invisible familiarity of fallen leaves suddenly takes on a whole new presence, when moved around a little and placed in a different way! We are surrounded by spectacular nature, when we slow down enough to notice it.

It’s my hope that in experiencing this collection you feel grounded to this place that we are so fortunate to call home, and motivated to take care of the Earth so that she may continue to take care of us too.
