First Contact
Created during my Art Therapy training, First Contact emerged through an exploration of finger painting and the simple invitation to engage directly with colour, texture, and sensation.
Without brushes or tools creating distance between hand and canvas, the process became immediate, playful, and deeply embodied. Colour was pushed, smeared, blended, and layered through touch, allowing instinct to take the lead over planning or perfection.
For me, the experience was about reconnecting with the joy of exploration. The painting became a record of movement, curiosity, and the freedom that emerges when we stop trying to make something look a certain way and instead become fully immersed in the process itself.
