Northern Memory
Although years and oceans separate me from the place where I grew up, the forests, hills, weather, and wide northern skies of Scotland continue to live within me. They surface unexpectedly in memory, dreams, and moments of nostalgia, woven into the fabric of who I am.
This painting reflects the gradual process of coming to terms with building a life on the other side of the world. It acknowledges both the ache of distance and the understanding that home is no longer a single place. Instead, it exists across continents, memories, relationships, and the landscapes that have shaped us.
Northern Memory is about learning to hold both realities at once - honouring where we come from while embracing where life has carried us.
