Vibration
Created on Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi Country during a retreat exploring embodiment, creativity, and self-discovery, Vibration emerged in response to the powerful sound of the didgeridoo played by Caleb Fitzpatrick.
As the deep tones reverberated through the space, I became immersed in a vivid inner landscape of colour, movement, and pattern - waves of shifting energy and form rippling across my mind’s eye.
While others around me drifted into slumber, I found myself completely captivated by these visions.
After the session, the painting flowed onto the canvas with ease, becoming a direct translation of what I had witnessed internally. Rather than painting an idea, I was painting an experience.
Created during a period when I had recently returned to dance and was exploring embodiment as a pathway for healing and self-understanding, this work marks an important moment in my creative journey. It was one of the first times I consciously recognised the richness of my inner visual world and understood that these spontaneous visions were not simply imagination, but a source of deep subconscious insight that fuel my creative energy.
Rich with rhythm, colour, and movement, Vibration celebrates the relationship between sound, sensation, and visual expression.
A reminder that creativity often begins long before the paint touches the canvas.
